A BIT OF HISTORY
Indivisual Creative was founded in 1989 by Greg Baranoski, a former display director at Macy’s. After having begun his display career at Woodward & Lothrop in the early 1980’s, Greg joined the venerable retailer, Bamberger’s, and spent six years as a display assistant, and then display director, in five of it’s Baltimore area stores. Bamberger’s took it’s corporate parent’s name, Macy’s, in the mid-1980’s. It was in October 1989 that Greg decided to leave the company and open his own display business.
After working out the basement of his Charles Village row house for a time, Greg opened his first studio in 1990, in a long unused commercial space of The Emersonian, an historic apartment building in Reservoir Hill. In 1995, after the building was emptied to make way for a restoration, Greg moved to a new, much larger studio in the 1830’s-era Landreth Seed Company warehouse on Leadenhall and Ostend Streets in South Baltimore. This building was the home to Greg’s growing business until it was sold in 2008 and eventually converted into the Baltimore headquarters for MC Dean. He moved to a new studio space in the old H & M Mills sock factory on Homewood Avenue in central Baltimore in July of 2009, where he continues to operate.
